Hello, my name is Estefania and I am a Creative Director and photographer based in Berlin, Germany. I was born and raised in Mexico, a land rich in history and cultural identity. I moved to Vancouver, Canada in my late teens, where I attended College and graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts. For the last 12 years I have been the Creative Director of the high-end designer store Darklands.
A crucial aspect of the fashion and art industries is their constant need for change and renewal. Over the years, I have striven to craft an aesthetic for the shop that captures the zeitgeist and stays ahead of the mainstream. Darklands proactively introduces new designers and cutting-edge styles that appeal to a sophisticated, intellectual and forward-looking target market. Art has always been a pivotal part of my life, so I have sought to promote it and underscore it at every step of my career. From developing all the necessary graphic design for print and online and being deeply involved with the process of store design for our various locations and pop-up shops, to creating large-scale installations and organizing concerts and exhibitions, working on Darklands' various iterations and pop-up projects has been a creative adventure that has brought joy and inspiration to many clients and fans around the world.
Another important aspect of my job as Creative Director has been my role as a stylist and photographer for our online shops. In addition to designing and maintaining various websites together with my team, I regularly create presentations for private clients, design email newsletters, manage most of the social media and create photography for print and online articles when required. Keeping up with fashion's demands and hectic schedules has required discipline, organizational skills and a readiness to improvise and problem-solve.
Much of my work has been influenced by my extensive travels through cities in Europe and the world: their galleries, museums, independent shops and restaurants. When I'm not traveling or at work, I am an avid reader of history and a passionate cook who specializes in traditional and historical Mexican cuisine.
